One of the best books I am currently reading on how to design for WordPress is How to be a Rockstar WordPress Designer. An early scan of its 303 pages makes it a must read. I recommend it. There is a companion website as well. More details to follow as I plow through the chapters and examples.

I have exciting news to share. MyWPLife.com Newspaper is launching soon (in a few months) and I would like to provide each and every member with free Profiles and business advertising online and in the print edition. The only requirement is that you have attended at least one Chicago WordPress MeetUp Group meeting. If you haven’t attended a meeting plan to do so this year.
Profiles
In order to post your profile in the printed newspaper I will need two things:
- Photo (high resolution JPEG , color works best)
- Profile Completed - you can do this online here
The purpose of the Profiles are to educate everyone in the Chicago WordPress MeetUp Group and WordPress community about who you are, your WordPress websites and blogs, the services you provide and how you can be contacted. In turn this will help build a vibrant WordPress community here in Chicago.
Free Advertising
Yes, these ads are FREE there is no catch or any obligation. Here’s what I need to place your ad online and in the printed newspaper:
- ONLINE: 125 x 125 pixel square ad. I am using the WP125 plugin to run these and I can only run 6 at a time. Please do not have your ad link to porn, spyware or objectionable and offensive websites that will hurt others or cause negative controversy. This is a perfect way to promote your website, business services or blog (online and in print, free).
- PRINT NEWSPAPER ADS: These ads are business card sized – 2 inches x 3.5 inches. Vertical or horizontal is fine. I prefer a PDF ad with all art, type and images embedded. Keep in mind these are are for PRINT OUTPUT and must be high resolution 300 DPI art, etc. If anyone has no idea what I am talking about I will post some mechanical specifications. I can not create your print ad or make them into PDFs for you long range. But if you need this to get started I will try an do some ads to get the project going but after that I will need PDFs formatted to specs in order to run the ads.
